Catch up with Treacle’s antics!

Dear Readers,
I hope life has treated you well since our last month’s issue and here we are, already in June!
A big thank you for picking up your copy of Rescue and Animal Care and a big welcome to all our new readers who have been reading our magazine online on www.rescueapet.co.uk. If you haven’t already looked at our site you will also find extra articles, hundreds of rescue centres and much more.
As many of you are aware, each month I bring you up to date with the antics of our rescue dog from The Border Collie Trust, Treacle who is now 10 months old.
A few weeks ago she came into season so I gave her a ‘pup’ talk and told her to just concentrate on chasing her tail not boys!
She is a very pretty thing and her babies would be gorgeous but as a rescue pup herself we agreed we wouldn’t have her mated and also she is demanding enough!
If we were to get another dog at anytime we would go the rescue route again.
Recently, I went through a phase of buying lot- tery scratch cards, about 5 at a time and won my money back, plus a little. However my luck didn’t continue and on my last batch of 5, I only won £2.00. I left my winning ticket on the table, left the room and when I returned, yes you’ve guessed Treacle had shred it into little pieces.
I took her to the beach one sunny morning for her first taste of the sea. She was fascinated by the waves and as she squatted to take a wee one got her in the bum and she jumped with the shock. It was very amusing watching her. Treacle barks at the most odd things. Although not everyone’s favourite I have always liked watching clumsy pigeons trying to balance on a branch on the trees in my garden and they have always made me smile but every time Treacle sees one she starts yapping and they take absolutely no notice of her so she goes on doing this endlessly until you call her in. When I let her out I find myself automatically pigeon spotting so I can distract her before she sees them herself and annoy the whole neighbourhood. She is not the slightest bit interested in any other birds. Is this strange?
In this issue we take a look at the sensitive pet, keeping your cat healthy, small animals care plus our regular news and features.
And last but not least we have hundreds of animals looking for homes from guinea pigs to ponies!
