Walking Wonders of the World
As the count-down begins to the charity’s annual Waggy Walks event on Sunday October 3rd, routes are being prepared and paws preened. Now in its third year the nationwide fundraising event is bigger than ever with 12 sponsored walks taking place all over the country.
Waggy Walkers can complete either a 5k or 10k route, with all proceeds going to Dogs Trust. Whether young or old; alone or in a group; four legs or two, rain or shine - everyone is welcome at Waggy Walks! And if you don't have a dog of your own,
Walking is a brilliant reason to get out- doors and explore, and for those with a Nintendo 3DS, you can also be out walking and using the street pass feature. Those with a console will be invited to bring them down to one of the Waggy Walks sites where it will automatically detect and communicate with other 3DS devices.
There will also be the opportunity for people to try the gadgets and play with the new Nintendogs + Cats game.
If you want to take part in Waggy Walks, just go to www.waggywalks.org.uk and register now, every £1 you raise will help to save an abandoned dog.
Beyond just being stress relievers and helpful weight loss aids, dogs have been shown to assist recovery from certain medical conditions and help in the development of children with learning and social difficulties. This year Dogs Trust is highlighting the importance of animals in promoting human health and happiness and is asking GPs to recommend a daily dose of dog to help improve our lives.
So what are you waiting for, get out and enjoy the beautiful British weather with your dogs, just remember to be a responsible dog owner.
