More of Troublesome Treacle’s antics

If you’ve not read this month’s update on our Border Collie rescue year old puppy on page 5 of this issue (free to download) then take a look to give you a giggle!

Someone has put 2 devil horns on Treacle. I think the kids did it! Sticking up between her ears are bits of greasy knotted fur. Think I need to cut them off.

Grooming Treacle is a challenge. It is like a rugby tackle whilst she tries to struggle and kick and attack the brush and head butt me. After my attempt she has half her fur in her mouth and I spend ages chasing her to remove it before she chokes. I watch her run into the flower bed go under the patio table, back into the flower bed and come out with a fuchsia in her mouth. Is this a normal puppy? Is it normal that I had the grooming brush in my mouth whilst trying to grab hold of her?

Have I rescued the naughtiest puppy ever – or did she actually rescue me?

Did God look down on me and say ‘Hey, here is a slightly eccentric person, let’s send her a really mad dog!’ I can see us going into later years. Me hair in bun, dog on a bicycle with Treacle in the basket.

When out Walking Treacle takes a wee only in puddles and the deeper the better. In the garden she has dug a huge hole and will only wee in it. With number two’s it’s all over the patio and they stand up and remind me of Stonehenge.

I’ve had to had a basket fixed inside my letterbox as requested by the local post office following a complaint from a traumatised postman. Just a game to her Treacle growls, jumps as the poor man with hands shaking delivers the post and I retrieve soggy envelopes a combination of postman’ nervous sweat and doggy dribble.

Treacle hasn’t got a proper bed. Even the most indestructible ones that used to be extremely comfortable have been torn to shreds and so she lies on the remaining tatters. Dog toys are left without body parts. Take the turkey I got her last Christmas that squeaked. Now it is unrecognisable, just a yellow beak.

Love her as I do. As she falls asleep with an innocent look on her face, I wonder what Treacle will do next.

P.S. Sure I saw her wink…..
